Morrisville State’s Men’s Soccer team lost to Suny Poly by 3-1 On Oct.31, Ending the Mustangs season by Eliminating them from the playoffs.Capping off the season, MSC went 2-2-1 in the last five games.
Going into the game, Senior Goalie Cody Gaines Accomplished winning NEAC Defensive Player of the week in their last contest against Suny Poly.
Sophomore Forward Stephen Oduro led the Mustangs (7-10-1,6-3-1 NEAC) by contributing MSC only goal of the contest. While Benjamin Alonge led Suny Poly (10-8-0,7-3-0 NEAC) scoring two crucial goals of the second half of play allowing the Wildcats to runaway with the game 3-1.
In the first moments of game, the Wildcats gained the advantage scoring the first goal of the contest. Gary Thermil scores a goal from a header kick 35 feet out, assisted from teammate Grant Calogero.
MSC quickly reacted to the goal, Scoring their only goal of the contest in the 6:01 mark in the game. Senior Forward Julian Rodriguez assisted Oduro in his kick from 25 feet out, resulting in the game to be tied at 1-1.As the game deveploed, scoring at a fast pace wasn’t a characteristic in this game.
The play of the goalies played a crucial role in the overall game results. MSC goalie Gaines Allowed three goals on 5 attempts. The Wildcat Goalie Alexander Gigliotti contained MSC only allowing one goal out of 5 attempts.
Wildcats Andrew Kessler Assisted Alonge that led to a chip forward pass for two-touch in a box inside score. In the final Moments of the game Zack Joseph assisted Alonge in the go ahead goal to close out MSC at home.
MSC should work hard in the offseason and come back positive knowing the team went negative on the season posting under 500.
